Abstract
The present invention relates to isolated protein complexes having succinyl-CoA:acetoacetate transferase activity, isolated polypeptide subunits thereof, and isolated polynucleotides encoding the subunits. The invention also relates to nucleic acid constructs, vectors, and host cells comprising the polynucleotides as well as methods of producing and using the polypeptides and protein complexes.

A nucleic acid construct or expression vector, comprising a polynucleotide encoding a protein complex having succinyl-CoA:acetoacetate transferase activity operably linked to one or more heteroloqous control sequences that direct the production of the protein complex in an expression host,
- wherein the complex comprises
- a first polypeptide subunit selected from:
- (a) a polypeptide having at least 97% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 3;
- (b) a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide that hybridizes under at least very high stringency conditions with the full-length complementary strand of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or 2;
- and
- (c) a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide having at least 97% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or 2;
- and a second polypeptide subunit selected from:
- (a) a polypeptide having at least 97% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 6;
- (b) a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide that hybridizes under at least very high stringency conditions with the full-length complementary strand of SEQ ID NO:
- 4 or 5;
- and
- (c) a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide having at least 97% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:
- 4 or 5.
