System and method for seamlessly increasing download throughput

A wireless wide area network device configured to increase download throughput of a requesting device, the wireless wide area network device comprising:

• a receiver adapted to receive a request to download a file;
• a connections analysis module in electrical communication with the receiver, the connections analysis module adapted to determine a number of connections to open with a remote device that is hosting the file;
• a network interface module in electrical communication with the connections analysis module, the network interface module adapted to download constituent portions of the file over said number of connections;
• a reassembly module in electrical communication with the network interface module, the reassembly module adapted to reassemble the constituent portions of the file;
• and
• a data transmissions module in electrical communication with the reassembly module, the data transmissions module adapted to transmit the file to the requesting device.
