Abstract
A method and apparatus may be used to provide signaling for various capabilities in various wireless communication technologies, such as very high throughput (VHT) Capabilities in VHT wireless local area networks (WLANs). For example, in WLAN, an access point (AP) and/or a station (STA) may indicate VHT Capabilities Information, in any new or existing frames. The VHT Capabilities Information may be indicated in management frames such as association, re-association, probe, beacon, or secondary/auxiliary beacon frames.

A wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
- a transmitter configured to transmit, to an access point (AP), a management frame comprising very high throughput (VHT) capabilities information, wherein the VHT capabilities information comprises an indication of support for reception via non-contiguous channels;
- and
- a receiver configured to receive, on a condition that reception via non-contiguous channels is supported, at least one data packet, from the AP, via multiple non-contiguous channels.
A method of communicating very high throughput (VHT) capability information from a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
- transmitting a management frame comprising VHT capabilities information to an access point (AP), wherein the VHT capabilities information comprises an indication of support for reception via non-contiguous channels;
- and
- receiving at least one data packet from the AP via multiple non-contiguous channels, on a condition that reception via non-contiguous channels is supported.
An access point (AP) comprising:
- a receiver configured to receive a management frame comprising very high throughput (VHT) capabilities information from a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), wherein the VHT capabilities information comprises an indication of support for reception via non-contiguous channels;
- and
- a transmitter configured to transmit, on a condition that reception via non-contiguous channels is supported, at least one data packet, to the WTRU, via multiple non-contiguous channels.
A method of communicating very high throughput (VHT) capability information to an access point (AP) comprising:
- receiving a management frame comprising very high throughput (VHT) capabilities information from a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), wherein the VHT capabilities information comprises an indication of support for reception via non-contiguous channels;
- and
- transmitting at least one data packet to the WTRU via multiple non-contiguous channels, on a condition that reception via non-contiguous channels is supported.
