Abstract
According to the invention, there is provided seed and plants of the hybrid corn variety designated CH424126. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of the variety CH424126, and to methods for producing a corn plant produced by crossing a corn plant of variety CH424126 with itself or with another corn plant, such as a plant of another variety. The invention further relates to genetic complements of plants of variety CH424126.
Claims21
A seed of hybrid corn variety CH424126, produced by crossing a first plant of variety CV355838 with a second plant of variety CV589900, wherein representative seed of said varieties CV355838 and CV589900 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-12956 and PTA-12078, respectively.
A seed produced by crossing
- (a) a plant produced by introducing a transgene into a plant of variety CV355838, or a selfed progeny thereof, with a plant of variety CV589900,
- (b) a plant produced by introducing a transgene into a plant of variety CV589900, or a selfed progeny thereof, with a plant of variety CV355838, or
- (c) a plant produced by introducing a transgene into a plant of variety CV589900, or a selfed progeny thereof, with a plant produced by introducing a transgene into a plant of variety CV355838, or a selfed progeny thereof,
- wherein representative seed of said varieties CV355838 and CV589900 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-12956 and PTA-12078, respectively, and wherein the transgene is inherited by the seed.
A method of producing hybrid corn seed comprising crossing a plant of variety CV355838 with a plant of variety CV589900, wherein representative seed of variety CV355838 and variety CV589900 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-12956 and PTA-12078, respectively.
A seed produced by crossing a first plant of variety CV355838 or a plant produced by introducing at least a first single locus conversion into variety CV355838 by sufficient backcrossing such that said plant produced by introducing at least a first single locus conversion into variety CV355838comprises the single locus conversion and comprises otherwise essentially all the physiological and morphological traits of variety CV355838,with a second plant of variety CV589900 or a plant produced by introducing at least a first single locus conversion into variety CV589900 by sufficient backcrossing such that said plant produced by introducing at least a first single locus conversion into variety CV589900comprises the single locus conversion and comprises otherwise essentially all the physiological and morphological traits of variety CV589900, wherein representative seed of said varieties CV355838 and CV589900 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-12956 and PTA-12078, respectively.
A method of plant breeding comprising the steps of:
- (a) introducing at least a first heritable trait into at least one inbred corn variety selected from the group consisting of variety CV355838 and variety CV589900 to produce a plant of the first inbred corn variety that heritably carries the trait, wherein the heritable trait is introduced into said first inbred corn variety by backcrossing and wherein representative samples of seed of variety CV355838 and variety CV589900 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-12956 and PTA-12078, respectively;
- (b) crossing a plant of the first inbred corn variety that heritably carries the trait with a plant of a different variety selected from said group consisting of CV355838 and CV589900 to produce a hybrid corn plant.
