A lubricating oil composition, comprising:
- a lubricating base oil comprising a polycyclic aromatic content of 0.01% by mass or more based on the total amount of base oil;
- and
- an organic molybdenum compound, which is soluable in the lubricating base oil, does not contain sulfur as a constitutive element, and is selected from molybdenum-amine complexes, wherein amine compounds constituting the molybdenum-amine complexes are chosen from monoamines, diamines, polyamines, and alkanol amines, and wherein the number of carbons of the hydrocarbon group on the amine compounds constituting the molybdenum-amine complexes is four or greater.
A lubricating oil composition, comprising an antioxidant composition, wherein the antioxidant composition comprises:
- a first lubricating base oil having a total aromatic content of 20 to 100% by mass and
- an organic molybdenum compound, which is soluble in the first lubrication base oil, does not contain sulfur as a constitutive element, and is selected from molybdenum-amine complexes, wherein amine compounds constituting the molybdenum-amine complexes are chosen from monoamines, diamines, polyamines, and alkanol amines.

- wherein the proportion of the first lubricating base oil in the total amount of the first and second lubricating base oils is 1% by mass or more.
A lubricating oil composition, comprising:
- a lubricating base oil;
- and
- an antioxidant composition, wherein the antioxidant composition comprises
- an aromatic solvent;
- and
- an organic molybdenum compound, which is soluble in the lubricating base oil, does not contain sulfur as a constitutive element, and is selected from molybdenum-amine complexes, wherein amine compounds constituting the molybdenum-amine complexes are chosen from monoamines, diamines, polyamines, and alkanol amines.
A lubricating oil composition, comprising:
- at least one species of polycyclic aromatic compounds selected from alkyl naphthalenes and compounds having three or more aromatic rings;
- a lubricating base oil;
- and
- an organic molybdenum compound, which is soluble in the lubricating base oil, does not contain sulfur as a constitutive element, and is selected from molybdenum-amine complexes, wherein amine compounds constituting the molybdenum-amine complexes are chosen from monoamines, diamines, polyamines, and alakanol amines, and wherein the number of carbons of the hydrocarbon group on the amine compounds constituting the molybdenum-amine complexes is four or greater.
