Abstract
The present disclosure in a broad aspect provides for diazeniumdiolated phosphorylcholine polymers and associated methods for achieving nitric oxide release. The present polymers have superior biocompatibility and are useful for coating or fabricating medical devices such as a vascular stent.
Claims19
A nitric oxide donating polymer comprising:
- a biocompatible polymer having at least one diazeniumdiolated phosphorylcholine functional group, wherein the polymer retains biocompatibility after release of nitric oxide from the diazeniumdiolated group under physiological conditions.
A nitric oxide donating polymer comprising a biocompatible polymer having at least one diazeniumdiolated phosphorylcholine functional group, wherein said biocompatible polymer is produced from a precursor polymer of Formula II:
- wherein a is 1 to 10,000 and b, c and d are each 0 to 10,000;
- and
- wherein the polymer retains biocompatibility after release of nitric oxide from the diazeniumdiolated group under physiological conditions.
A medical device comprising:
- a biocompatible polymer having at least one diazeniumdiolated phosphorylcholine functional group, wherein the polymer retains biocompatibility after release of nitric oxide from the diazeniumdiolated group under physiological conditions.
A medical device comprising a nitric oxide donating polymer comprising a biocompatible polymer having at least one diazeniumdiolated phosphorylcholine functional group, wherein said biocompatible polymer is produced from a precursor polymer of Formula II:
- wherein a is 1 to 10,000 and b, c and d are each 0 to 10,000,
- wherein the polymer retains biocompatibility after release of nitric oxide from the diazeniumdiolated group under physiological conditions.
A nitric oxide donating polymer comprising a biocompatible polymer having at least one diazeniumdiolated phosphorylcholine functional group;
- wherein the polymer retains biocompatibility after release of nitric oxide from the diazeniumdiolated group under physiological conditions;
- wherein the diazeniumdiolated phosphorylcholine functional group comprises up to eleven diazeniumdiolate groups.
A medical device comprising a biocompatible polymer having at least one diazeniumdiolated phosphorylcholine functional group, wherein the polymer retains biocompatibility after release of nitric oxide from the diazeniumdiolated group under physiological conditions;
- wherein the diazeniumdiolated phosphorylcholine functional group comprises up to eleven diazeniumdiolate groups.
