Abstract
A pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of interleukin-6 (IL-6) related diseases, comprising an interleukin-6 antagonist (IL-6 antagonist) and immunosuppressants. The IL-6 antagonist is preferably an antibody to an interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R).
Claims7
A method for treating rheumatoid arthritis, comprising administering an effective amount of an interleukin-6 (IL-6) antagonist and an effective amount of methotrexate (MTX) to a patient in need thereof, wherein the IL-6 antagonist is an anti-IL-6 antibody which inhibits binding of IL-6 to the IL-6 receptor by binding IL-6 and blocks signal transduction by IL-6.
