Abstract
Disclosed are improved polymer materials. Also disclosed are fine fiber materials that can be made from the improved polymeric materials in the form of microfiber and nanofiber structures. The microfiber and nanofiber structures can be used in a variety of useful applications including the formation of filter materials.
Claims19
A filter construction comprising a filter media, the filter media comprising:
- a single filtration substrate layer comprising a cellulosic nonwoven substrate or a synthetic polymer nonwoven substrate, the single filtration substrate layer having a first surface;
- and
- a single fine fiber layer formed on and adhered to the first surface of the filtration substrate layer having a thickness of no greater than 30 microns, the fine fiber layer comprising a random distribution of fibers having a diameter of about 0.05 to 0.5 micron, the fibers comprising a nylon polymer, other than a copolymer formed from a nylon 6 monomer and a nylon 66 monomer and nylon 610 monomer.
