Abstract
Game rating systems and related methods for using game ratings are disclosed herein. According to one method, the game rating system is used to assist a player in selecting a game for play on a gaming machine having one or more games. In this method, a game rating icon is presented on the gaming machine. The game rating icon corresponds to and represents a unique game style of each game on the gaming machine. The gaming machine receives player input select a game style, and a game having the selected game style is presented to the player for game play.

A method for managing one or more games presented on a plurality of gaming machines, the method comprising:
- obtaining game rating information for the one or more games presented on the plurality of gaming machines located on a casino floor;
- determining, using a game controller, a plurality of game ratings based on the game rating information associated with the one or more games presented on the plurality of gaming machines, wherein the game controller is a combination of hardware and software components, wherein each game rating represents a game style and game volatility affecting payout frequency of a game of chance, wherein the game rating is displayed by a game rating icon that represents the game rating for an associated game on an associated gaming machine;
- configuring the casino floor based on the plurality of game ratings on the gaming machines, wherein gaming machines that display one game rating icon are placed in one area of the casino floor and gaming machines that display another game rating icon are placed in another area of the casino floor;
- distributing one or more games based upon the plurality of game ratings associated with the plurality of gaming machines on the casino floor;
- and
- presenting, using a game controller, at least one game rating icon on the plurality of gaming machines that corresponds to and represents the game rating information associated with the one or more games presented on the plurality of gaming machines, wherein the at least one game rating icon is displayed to players to enable players to quickly and easily determine if a game associated with the game rating icon is compatible with the player's gambling habits.

- obtaining game rating information for the one or more games presented on the plurality of gaming machines located on a casino floor;

- presenting, using a game controller, at least one alterable game rating icon on the plurality of gaming machines that corresponds to and represents the game rating information associated with the one or more games presented on the plurality of gaming machines, wherein the at least one alterable game rating icon is displayed to players to enable players to quickly and easily determine if a game associated with the game rating icon is compatible with the player's gambling habits.
