Abstract
A fluid is processed between processing surfaces capable of approaching to and separating from each other, at least one of which rotates relative to the other. A first fluid is introduced between processing surfaces, by using a micropump effect acting with a depression arranged on the processing surfaces from the center of the rotating processing surfaces. A second fluid, independent of this introduced fluid, is introduced from another fluid path that is provided with an opening leading to the processing surfaces, whereby the processing is done by mixing and stirring between the processing members.
Claims16
A fluid processing apparatus for processing a material, comprising:
- processing members configured to approach to and separate from each other, at least one of the processing members rotating relative to the other, the processing members comprising circular processing surfaces facing each other with a minute space formed therebetween, and at least a first flow path and a second flow path,
- wherein the processing surfaces of the processing members are configured to receive, via the first flow path, a first fluid between the processing surfaces by a micropump effect in at least one depression arranged on at least one of the processing surfaces from inside to outside of a radial direction of the rotating processing surfaces, and to receive, via the second flow path that is independent of the first flow path and is provided with an opening leading to one of the processing surfaces, a second fluid between the processing surfaces, whereby the processing is done by mixing and stirring between the processing surfaces,
- wherein the second flow path is formed through one of the processing members, and is arranged, as approaching to the opening open at one of the processing surfaces, in a manner to be toward an outward direction away from a rotation center of the processing surfaces in a radial direction of the processing surfaces, and to be toward a forward direction for the fluid in the rotation direction of the first fluid between the rotating processing surfaces,
- wherein the first fluid introduced by a micropump effect spreads over between the circular processing surfaces,
- wherein, in a plane along the processing surfaces, directionality accompanies the introducing direction from the opening of the second fluid into the processing surfaces, and the second fluid, with respect to the first fluid spreading over between the circular processing surfaces, is introduced between the processing surfaces from the second flow path, in a manner to be toward the outward direction away from the rotation center of the processing surfaces in the radial direction of the processing surfaces, and to be toward the forward direction for the fluid in the rotation direction of the first fluid between the rotating processing surfaces, and
- wherein the fluid processing apparatus is configured to process at least two fluids including said first and second fluids, and at least one of said first and second fluids contains at least one kind of material to be processed.
