Abstract
A nozzle assembly for an inkjet printhead includes: an ink chamber having an elliptical nozzle opening defined in a roof of the ink chamber and an ink inlet; a heater element positioned in the ink chamber, the heater element having an elongate linear beam for generating a vapor bubble in the ink chamber, the elongate linear beam having a longitudinal axis extending parallel with a major axis of the elliptical nozzle opening; and a pressure-diffusing structure positioned relative to the ink inlet. The pressure-diffusing structure is configured for diffusing pressure pulses in ink supplied to the ink chamber via the ink inlet.
Claims6
A nozzle assembly for an inkjet printhead, said nozzle assembly comprising:
- an ink chamber having a floor, a roof and sidewalls extending between the floor and the roof, the ink chamber having an elliptical nozzle opening defined in the roof;
- and
- a heater element suspended in the ink chamber, the heater element having opposite faces in contact with ink contained in said ink chamber, the heater element being comprised of an elongate linear beam extending between a pair of electrodes positioned on either side of a major axis of the elliptical nozzle opening said elongate linear beam having a longitudinal axis extending parallel with the major axis of said elliptical nozzle opening,
- wherein the and heater element is suspended in the ink chamber relatively closer to the floor than the roof.
An inkjet printhead comprising an array of nozzle assemblies, each nozzle assembly comprising:
- an ink chamber having a floor, a roof and sidewalls extending between the floor and the roof, the ink chamber having an elliptical nozzle opening defined in the roof;
- a heater element suspended in said ink chamber, the heater element having opposite faces in contact with ink contained in said ink chamber, said heater element being comprised of an elongate linear beam extending between a pair of electrodes positioned on either side of a major axis of the elliptical nozzle opening, said elongate linear beam having a longitudinal axis extending parallel with the major axis of said elliptical nozzle opening,
- wherein the heater element is suspended in the ink chamber relatively closer to the floor than the roof.
