Riser lifecycle management system, computer readable medium and program code

A non-transitory computer readable medium embodying program code for monitoring and managing a plurality of marine riser assets, the program code comprising a set of instructions, stored on the computer readable medium, that when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform the operations of:

• receiving riser joint identification data retrieved from each of a plurality of riser joints during a subsea deployment thereof from a vessel to form a marine riser string, each separate one of plurality of riser joints carrying a riser joint identification indicator connected thereto, each riser joint identification indicator carrying or containing information about the respective riser joint sufficient to provide for separately identifying the respective riser joint from each other of the plurality of riser joints deployed during the subsea deployment;
• identifying each separate one of the respective plurality of riser joints deployed from the vessel responsive to the riser joint identification data retrieved from the corresponding riser joint identification indicator during the subsea deployment of the respective riser joint to thereby track the subsea deployment thereof;
• tracking the subsea deployment of each of the plurality of riser joints;
• recording a timestamp indicating when each respective riser joint of the plurality of riser joints was deployed.

A non-transitory computer readable medium embodying program code for monitoring and managing a plurality of marine riser assets, the program code comprising a set of instructions, stored on the computer readable medium, that when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform the operations of:

• receiving riser joint identification data retrieved from each of a plurality of riser joints during a subsea deployment thereof from a vessel to form a marine riser string, each separate one of the plurality of riser joints carrying a riser joint identification indicator connected thereto, each riser joint identification indicator carrying or containing information about the respective riser joint sufficient to provide for separately identifying the respective riser joint from each other of the plurality of riser joints deployed during the subsea deployment;
• identifying each separate one of the respective plurality of riser joints deployed from the vessel responsive to the riser joint identification data retrieved from the corresponding riser joint identification indicator during the subsea deployment of the respective riser joint to thereby track the subsea deployment thereof;
• and
• predicting a magnitude of a load imposed on a subsea wellhead system associated with the riser string responsive to corresponding riser load data for at least a subset of a plurality of riser joints forming the marine riser string.

A non-transitory computer readable medium embodying program code for monitoring and managing a plurality of marine riser assets, the program code comprising a set of instructions, stored on the computer readable medium, that when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform the operations of:

• receiving riser joint identification data retrieved from each of a plurality of riser joints during a subsea deployment thereof from a vessel to form a marine riser string, each separate one of the plurality of riser joints carrying a riser joint identification indicator connected thereto, each riser joint identification indicator carrying or containing information about the respective riser joint sufficient to provide for separately identifying the respective riser joint from each other of the plurality of riser joints deployed during the subsea deployment, the riser joint identification data being retrieved from the riser identification indicator of each respective one of the plurality of riser joints using a riser joint identification sensor positioned within a well bay on the vessel;
• identifying each separate one of the respective plurality of riser joints deployed from the vessel responsive to the riser joint identification data retrieved from the corresponding riser joint identification indicator during the subsea deployment of the respective riser joint to thereby track the subsea deployment thereof;
• receiving the riser joint identification data retrieved using the riser joint identification sensor during deployment of the plurality of riser joints;
• and
• virtually constructing the marine riser string configuration responsive to the riser joint identification data for each of the plurality of riser joints received during deployment thereof.

A non-transitory computer readable medium embodying program code for monitoring and managing a plurality of marine riser assets, the program code comprising a set of instructions, stored on the computer readable medium, that when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform the operations of:

• receiving riser joint identification data retrieved from each of a plurality of riser joints during a subsea deployment thereof from a vessel to form a marine riser string, each separate one of the plurality of riser joints carrying a riser joint identification indicator connected thereto, each riser joint identification indicator carrying or containing information about the respective riser joint sufficient to provide for separately identifying the respective riser joint from each other of the plurality if riser joints deployed during the subsea deployment;
• identifying each separate one of the respective plurality of riser joints deployed from the vessel responsive to the riser joint identification data retrieved from the corresponding riser joint identification indicator during the subsea deployment of the respective riser joint to thereby track the subsea deployment thereof;
• receiving riser joint deployment location data and relative deployed position location data for each of the plurality of deployed riser joints from each of the plurality of vessels for storage in a central database warehouse located remote from the vessel and adapted to receive such data from the plurality of vessels;
• and
• virtually constructing a riser string configuration of any one of the respective plurality of riser joints deployed at any one of the plurality of separate vessel locations responsive to the riser joint deployment and position location data associated with the respective marine riser string.

A non-transitory computer readable medium embodying program code for monitoring and managing a plurality of marine riser assets, the program code comprising a set of instructions, stored on the computer readable medium, that when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform the operations of:

• receiving riser joint identification data retrieved from each of a plurality of riser joints during a subsea deployment thereof from a vessel to form a marine riser string, each separate one of the plurality of riser joints carrying a riser joint identification indicator connected thereto, each riser joint identification indicator carrying or containing information about the respective riser joint sufficient to provide for separately identifying the respective riser joint from each other of the plurality of riser joints deployed during the subsea deployment, each of the plurality of riser joints also carrying a riser joint measurement instrument module;
• identifying each separate one of the respective plurality of riser joints deployed from the vessel responsive to the riser joint identification data retrieved from the corresponding riser joint the subsea deployment thereof;
• and
• receiving load data for each of the plurality of riser joints retrieved from a corresponding plurality of riser joint measurement instrument modules, the load data provided through relay of the data from each of the plurality of riser joints to a riser joint positioned adjacent the respective riser joint until reaching a riser load data receiver.

A riser lifecycle management system for monitoring and managing a plurality of marine riser assets positionable at one or more separate floating vessels each having a floor, a well bay extending therethrough, and a local shipboard communication network carried by the vessel, the system comprising:

• a riser joint identification sensor positioned at or adjacent the well bay;
• a communication network;
• a plurality of riser joints deployable from the vessel to form a riser string, each riser joint carrying or containing an identification indicator connected thereto, each riser joint identification indicator carrying or containing identification information about the respective riser joint, the identification information retrieved from each respective riser joint identification indicator using the riser joint identification sensor and delivered through the communication network;
• a computer in communication with the communication network and including a processor, and memory coupled to the processor;
• and
• riser asset management program stored in the memory of the computer to monitor and manage a plurality of riser assets, the riser asset management program including instructions that when executed by the computer, cause the computer to perform the operations of:
• receiving riser joint identification data retrieved from each of the plurality of riser joints during a subsea deployment thereof from the vessel to form the riser string, the riser joint identification data providing information about the respective riser joint sufficient to provide for separately identifying the respective riser joint from each other of the plurality of riser joints when being deployed during the subsea deployment, and
• identifying each separate one of the respective plurality of riser joints deployed from the vessel responsive to the identification information retrieved from the respective identification indicator during the subsea deployment of the respective riser joint connected thereto to thereby track the subsea deployment thereof.

A riser lifecycle management system for monitoring and managing a plurality of marine riser assets positionable at one or more separate floating vessels each having a floor, a well bay extending therethrough, and a local shipboard communication network carried by the vessel, the system comprising:

• a plurality of riser joints deployable from the vessel to form a riser string, each riser joint carrying an identification indicator connected thereto;
• a riser joint identification sensor positioned at or adjacent the well bay to retrieve riser joint identification information from each of the plurality of riser joints;
• a computer operably coupled to a communication network, the computer including a processor, and memory coupled to the processor;
• and
• riser asset management program stored in the memory of the computer to monitor and manage a plurality of riser assets, the riser asset management program including instructions that when executed by the computer, cause the computer to perform the operations of:
• receiving riser joint identification data retrieved from each of the plurality of riser joints during subsea deployment thereof from the vessel to form the riser string, the riser joint identification data providing information about the respective riser joint sufficient to provide for separately identifying the respective riser joint from each other of the plurality of riser joints being deployed, and
• determining a relative deployed position location of the each of the plurality of deployed riser joints within the riser string responsive to the received riser joint identification data.
