A later generation optical disc encoded with computer readable address information, comprising:

• a substrate;
• and
• at least 3 data layers formed over the substrate, at least one of the 3 data layers having encoded original address information formed therein as partially inverted encoded original address information, the encoded original address information including the original address information and parity information generated based on the original address information, the original address information including address unit number information, and half of a plurality of fields of the address unit number information and half of a plurality of fields of the parity information being inverted,
• wherein a portion of said partially inverted encoded original address information being unique to a format for the later generation optical disc that is different than a format for an earlier generation optical disc.
