Abstract
An improved endoscopic device which is introduced into the intestinal tract of a living organism and which operates autonomously therein, adapted to obtain and store or transmit one or more types of data such as visual image data, laser autofluorescensce data, or ultrasonic waveform data. In another aspect of the disclosure, a probe for autonomously operating within an intestinal tract of a living human is disclosed. In one embodiment, the probe includes: a data processor; an antigen detector; and a communications device. In one variant, the processor comprises at least one sleep mode configured to place at least portions of the probe in a reduced state of power consumption based at least one of (i) a detection of a prescribed antigen; and/or (ii) an absence of a detection of a prescribed antigen.
Claims36
A probe for autonomously operating within an intestinal tract of a living human, comprising:
- at least one imaging sensor capable of collecting visual-band information relating to said human;
- a data processor;
- a communications device;
- and
- an antigen sensing apparatus;
- wherein said data processor and said communications device are formed on a single semi-conductive die;
- wherein said processor comprises at least one sleep mode configured to selectively place portions of said processor in a reduced state of power consumption;
- wherein said processor further comprises at least one computer program configured to selectively compress data associated with said visual-band information so as to reduce a communications bandwidth requirement associated with sending said data off-probe while in situ within said human;
- and
- wherein said probe is configured to perform said selective placement of the portions based on at least a detection of a prescribed antigen.
A probe for autonomously operating within an intestinal tract of a living human, comprising:
- at least one imaging sensor capable of collecting visual-band information relating to said human;
- a data processor;
- a communications device;
- and
- an antigen sensing apparatus;
- wherein said data processor and said communications device are formed on a single semi-conductive die;
- wherein said processor comprises at least one sleep mode configured to selectively place portions of said processor in a reduced state of power consumption;
- wherein said processor further comprises at least one computer program configured to selectively compress data associated with said visual-band information so as to reduce a communications bandwidth requirement associated with sending said data off-probe while in situ within said human;
- and
- wherein said probe is configured to perform said selective placement of said portions based on at least an absence of a detection of a prescribed antigen.
A probe for autonomously operating within an intestinal tract of a living human, comprising:
- at least one imaging sensor capable of collecting visual-band information relating to said human;
- a data processor;
- an antigen detector;
- and
- a communications device;
- wherein said data processor and said communications device are formed on a single semi-conductive die;
- and
- wherein said processor comprises at least one sleep mode configured to place at least portions of said processor in a reduced state of power consumption based on at least one of (i) a detection of a prescribed antigen;
- and/or (ii) an absence of a detection of a prescribed antigen.
A probe for autonomously operating within an intestinal tract of a living human, comprising:
- at least one sensor capable of collecting information relating to said human in situ;
- a data processor;
- an antigen detector;
- and
- a communications device;
- wherein said processor comprises at least one sleep mode configured to place at least portions of said probe in a reduced state of power consumption based on at least one of (i) a detection of a prescribed antigen;
- and/or (ii) an absence of a detection of a prescribed antigen.
A probe for autonomously operating within an intestinal tract of a living human, comprising:
- a data processor;
- an antigen detector;
- and
- a communications device;
- wherein said processor comprises at least one sleep mode configured to place at least portions of said probe in a reduced state of power consumption based on at least one of (i) a detection of a prescribed antigen;
