Abstract
A blower includes a stationary portion including an inlet and an outlet, a rotating portion provided to the stationary portion, and a motor adapted to drive the rotating portion. The inlet and outlet are co-axially aligned. The stationary portion includes a housing, a stator component provided to the housing, and a tube providing an interior surface. The rotating portion includes one or more bearings that are provided along the interior surface of the tube to support a rotor within the tube. In an embodiment, the blower is structured to supply air at positive pressure.
Claims53
A blower, comprising:
- a stationary portion including an inlet, an outlet, a housing, a stator component provided to the housing, and a tube providing an interior surface and an exterior surface, the inlet and outlet being co-axially aligned;
- a rotating portion including a rotor;
- and
- a motor including at least one magnet and a stator assembly,
- the rotating portion is provided to the stationary portion and the motor is adapted to drive the rotating portion,
- the rotor is located within the tube and the at least one magnet is provided to the rotor within the tube, the rotor being supported by one or more bearings that are provided along the interior surface of the tube, and
- the stator assembly is provided along the exterior surface of the tube,
- wherein the stator component includes an annular base including a plurality of stator vanes, the tube structured to extend from the base, and the stationary portion includes a shield that cooperates with the stator component to support and maintain the stator assembly in an operative position, and
- wherein at least a portion of the stator assembly and a wall of the housing define a portion of a gas flow path to direct gas from a first side of the motor proximal the inlet to a second side of the motor distal the inlet.
A blower, comprising:
- a stationary portion including an inlet and an outlet;
- a rotating portion provided to the stationary portion;
- and
- a motor adapted to drive the rotating portion,
- the stationary portion including a housing and a stator component provided to the housing,
- wherein the stator component includes a tube adapted to support a rotor of the rotating portion and a cage that surrounds the tube,
- wherein the motor includes a stator assembly that is provided along an exterior surface of the tube,
- wherein the cage includes an annular shield portion, an annular base portion, and a plurality of spaced apart side walls extending between the annular shield portion and the annular base portion, each side wall including an interior surface structured to engage the stator assembly and an exterior surface, the exterior surface of each side wall and a wall of the housing defining a portion of a gas flow path to direct gas from a first side of the motor proximal the inlet to a second side of the motor distal the inlet.
