Abstract
A liquid evaporation system for evaporating clean water from a reservoir of wastewater includes a liquid evaporator to evaporate and separate water vapor from the wastewater in a confined space, an air blower to supply air to the liquid evaporator, and a wastewater heating system arranged to collect heat to heat the wastewater in the reservoir.
Claims26
A method of evaporating water vapor from a reservoir of a continuous volume of wastewater, the method comprising the steps of:
- evaporating the water vapor with a liquid evaporator including a direct contact adiabatic evaporation system comprising a draft tube assembly that directs air into the continuous volume of wastewater within the reservoir;
- forcing air through the draft tube assembly into the continuous volume of wastewater within the reservoir;
- mixing a discontinuous volume of the air in the continuous volume of water;
- and
- heating the continuous volume of wastewater with waste heat from an industrial process.
A liquid evaporation system for evaporating clean water from a reservoir of a continuous volume of wastewater, the liquid evaporation system comprising:
- a liquid evaporator having a direct contact adiabatic evaporation system operatively arranged to evaporate and separate water vapor from the volume of wastewater within a confined space, wherein the direct contact adiabatic evaporation system comprises a draft tube assembly that directs air into the continuous volume of wastewater within the reservoir and is arranged to mix a discontinuous volume of the air in the continuous volume of water;
- an air blower operatively connected to the draft tube assembly of the liquid evaporator and arranged to supply the air to the liquid evaporator for forming the water vapor;
- and
- and a heating system arranged to heat the continuous volume of wastewater in the reservoir.
