Abstract
Compositions and methods of treatment or prophylaxis of fragile-X associated disorders are provided, as well as methods of screening compounds and kits to screen a library of compounds.

A method of treating a fragile X-associated disorder comprising administering an effective amount of a compound selected from xylazine, 4′-methoxychalcone, 5 fluoroindole-2-carboxylic acid, propachlor, furegrelate, asarylaldehyde, chromocarb, acetyltryptophanamide, salts, esters, and prodrugs thereof to a subject in need thereof.
