Abstract
The present invention relates to the regulation of apoptosis and expression of the BH3-only family of genes by miR-29. The invention further relates to the use of miR-29 to protect cells from apoptosis and to treat disorders associated with apoptosis.
Claims17
A method of inhibiting expression of one or more BH3-only genes in a cell, comprising increasing the amount of miR-29b in the cell.
A method of increasing the resistance of a cell to an apoptotic signal, comprising increasing the amount of miR-29b in the cell, wherein increasing the amount of miR-29b inhibits expression of one or more BH3-only genes in a cell.
A method of treating a disorder related to apoptosis in a subject, comprising increasing the amount of miR-29b in a cell of the subject, wherein increasing the amount of miR-29b inhibits expression of one or more BH3-only genes in the subject.
