Abstract
A Ca—La—F based transparent ceramic, including: mixing CaF2 particles and LaF3 particles that are prepared separately from the CaF2 particles to form a mixed body of particles, and sintering the mixed body of particles and making the mixed body transparent, thereby producing a transparent ceramic.
Claims7
A transparent ceramic that comprises a polycrystalline body including crystals of (Cai-xLax)F2+x, where x denotes a number larger than 0 and not larger than 0.4, and that has a transparency such that a 2 mm thick sample of the transparent ceramic transmits at least 50% of light having a wavelength of 550 nm.
