Abstract
A catheter connection system and a method of connecting the catheter connection system to a catheter. The catheter connection system includes a hub assembly and a collar. The hub assembly includes a cannula extending from a distal end thereof, and a collet defining an inner surface spaced apart from the cannula to permit passage of a catheter wall between the body and the cannula.
Claims10
A catheter connection system, comprising:
- a cannula in fluid communication with a tube;
- a collet having a length surrounding the cannula with an inner surface spaced from an outer surface of the cannula to permit passage of a catheter wall therebetween, the collet including a proximal barb on an outer surface thereof;
- and
- a collar including a compression ring incorporated into a distal section thereof and a proximal attachment barb engaging the collet proximal barb to secure the collar to the collet, the collar freely rotatable over the collet following engagement.
