Abstract
Described herein are various embodiments of an oxygen concentrator system. In some embodiments, an oxygen concentrator system includes one or more components that improve dissipation of heat formed during operation of the oxygen concentrator system.
Claims18
An oxygen concentrator apparatus, comprising:
- at least two canisters;
- gas separation adsorbent disposed in the at least two canisters, wherein the gas separation adsorbent separates at least some nitrogen from air in the at least two canisters to produce oxygen enriched gas;
- a compression system coupled to at least one of the canisters, wherein the compression system compresses air during operation, and wherein the compression system comprises a motor coupled to a compressor, wherein the motor comprises a stationary electric field generating portion and a rotating armature external to the stationary electric field generating portion, wherein rotation of the rotating armature drives the operation of the compressor;
- a compressor outlet conduit coupling the compression system to at least one of the canisters, wherein compressed air is transferred from the compression system to at least one of the canisters through the compressor outlet conduit, and
- at least one air transfer device, wherein the at least one air transfer device creates an air flow during use, and wherein the at least one air transfer device is coupled to the rotating armature, and wherein the at least one coupled air transfer device creates an air flow when the rotating armature rotates, and wherein the created airflow passes over at least a portion of the motor and at least a portion of the compressor outlet conduit.

An oxygen concentrator apparatus, comprising:
- at least two canisters;
- gas separation adsorbent disposed in the at least two canisters, wherein the gas separation adsorbent separates at least some nitrogen from air in the at least two canisters to produce oxygen enriched gas;
- a compression system, the compression system comprising:
- a compressor coupled to at least one of the canisters, wherein the compressor compresses air during operation;
- and
- a motor coupled to the compressor, wherein the motor drives the operation of the compressor;
- wherein the motor comprises a stationary electric field generating portion and a rotating armature external to the stationary electric field generating portion, wherein rotation of the rotating armature drives the operation of the compressor;
- and
- at least one air transfer device coupled to the rotating armature, and wherein the at least one coupled air transfer device creates an air flow when the rotating armature rotates,
- a compressor outlet conduit coupling the compressor to at least one of the canisters, wherein compressed air is transferred from the compressor to at least one of the canisters through the compressor outlet conduit,
- wherein an outlet of one or more of the canisters is positioned such that gas exiting one or more of the canisters during a venting process is directed toward the at least one air transfer device, and wherein the at least one air transfer device directs the vented gas toward:
- at least a portion of the motor;
- at least a portion of the compressor;
- at least a portion of the compressor outlet conduit;
- or combinations thereof, during use.
