Abstract
A roller guide assembly is attached to a paint roller frame to maintain a consistent space between a surface adjacent to the surface being painted and a roller cover carried by the roller frame. The roller guide assembly includes a guide arm attached to a vertical portion of the roller frame and a mounting clamp that that fits on the roller frame. The mounting clamp uses an adjustable locking screw and tightening knob to secure the mounting clamp to the roller frame. The mounting clamp has a cavity configured to receive the guide arm such that the guide arm extends past the roller cover. The roller guide assembly has a storage clip mounted on the roller frame for temporarily storing the guide arm while the roller cover is being reloaded with paint.
Claims20
A paint roller:
- (a) a paint roller frame comprising a roller cover and configured to maintain a consistent space between a surface adjacent to a surface being painted and the roller cover;
- and
- (b) a roller guide assembly comprising:
- (i) a guide arm;
- (ii) a mounting clamp located on the paint roller frame and configured to releasably receive and position the guide arm such that the guide arm extends past the roller cover in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the roller cover;
- and
- (iii) a storage clip located on the roller frame and configured to temporarily store the guide arm when the guide arm is released and removed from the mounting clamp.
A paint roller comprising:
- a paint roller frame;
- a roller cover carried by the roller frame;
- a mounting clamp located on the roller frame;
- a storage clip located on the roller frame;
- and a guide arm selectively mountable to the mounting clamp and to the storage clamp, the mounting clamp receiving and positioning the guide arm such that the guide arm extends past the roller cover when the guide arm is attached to the mounting clamp, and the storage clamp temporarily storing the guide arm for reloading the roller cover with paint.
A method of painting using a paint roller comprising:
- (a) providing a paint roller frame comprising,
- (i) a roller cover and configured to maintain a consistent space between a surface adjacent to a surface being painted and the roller cover, and
- (ii) a roller guide assembly comprising,
- (A) a guide arm,
- (B) a mounting clamp located on the paint roller frame and configured to releasably receive and position the guide arm such that the guide arm extends past the roller cover in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the roller cover, and
- (C) a storage clip located on the roller frame and configured to temporarily store the guide arm when the guide arm is released and removed from the mounting clamp;
- (b) mounting the guide arm to the mounting clip while applying paint with the paint roller, and
- (c) removing the guide arm from the mounting clip and temporarily storing the guide arm on the storage clip while reloading the paint roller with paint.
