Micro-macro channel reactor

A micro-macro channel reactor comprising:

• a top end plate and a bottom end plate, each end plate being disposed on outermost portion of the micro-macro channel reactor;
• a heat exchanging plate having passages, through which a heat exchanging material flows;
• a catalyst plate stacked and assembled together with the heat exchanging plate, the catalyst plate having a catalyst section carrying a reaction catalyst that is necessitated to perform catalytic reaction of a reactant while the reactant is passing through the catalyst section,
• wherein the reactant, a resulting product, or mixture thereof is configured to heat-exchange with the heat exchanging material passing through the heat exchange plate;
• and
• a support plate stacked and assembled together with the catalyst plate, the support plate having passages through which the reactant flows to reach the catalyst section of the catalyst plate,
• wherein the heat exchanging plate, the catalyst plate, and the support plate are stacked and comprise more than one repeating substack assembled between the top end plate and the bottom end plate,
• wherein the catalyst plate is interposed between the heat exchanging plate and the support plate,
• wherein the catalyst plate has a frame structure, and the catalyst section that contacts with the passages formed on a surface of the support plate such that a material that can flow therebetween through the passages on the support plate is inserted into the interior of the frame structure of the catalyst plate,
• wherein each plate has an elongated shape and a first end and a second end, and wherein each end comprises at least one through-hole,
• wherein the heat exchanging plate has only three through-holes, wherein two through-holes are on one end and one through-hole is on the other end, and wherein the through-holes on the heat exchanging plate in a first substack are in alternation with the through-holes on the heat exchanging plate in a second substack,
• wherein each plate is stacked, and the stacked plates are configured such that the through-holes form two flow paths such that
• the heat exchanging material flows across the heat exchanging plate from the first end to the second end and through the at least one through-hole on the second end of each of the heat exchanging plate, the catalyst plate and the support plate, and
• the reactant flows through the at least one through-hole on the first end of each of the heat exchanging plate and the catalyst plate to and across the support plate to the through-hole on the second end of the support plate.
