Abstract
An image pickup apparatus is provided which includes an image pickup device; a display unit configured to perform a control operation to display a signal output from the image pickup device on a monitor; a first photometry section configured to measure luminance of an image of an object based on the signal output from the image pickup device; a second photometry section configured to measure luminance of the image of the object using a photometric sensor mounted at a position different from the image pickup device; and a controller configured to control exposure based on photometric information obtained from the second photometry section in a case where, before photometric information is obtained from the first photometry section, a request is made by a user to capture an image for recording an output of the image pickup device.

- a first photometry section mounted in the image pickup apparatus to measure luminance of an image of an object based on the signal output from the image pickup device, wherein the first photometry section measures luminance in a case where a mirror member is evacuated to an upper position so that a light beam from an image pickup lens unit is directed to the image pickup device;
- a second photometry section mounted in the image pickup apparatus to measure luminance of the image of the object using a photometric sensor, wherein the second photometry section measures luminance in a case where the mirror member is located in a lower position, wherein the photometric sensor is arranged in another position with the image pickup device for the mirror;
- and
- a controller mounted in the image pickup apparatus to control exposure based on luminance measured by the second photometry section in a case where, after a shift from a second mode to a first mode is started and before luminance is measured by the first photometry section, a request is made by a user to capture an image for recording an output of the image pickup device,
- wherein the first mode is a mode in which the first photometry section measures luminance and the monitor displays a signal output from the image pickup device, wherein the second mode is a mode in which the second photometry section measures luminance.
A method for controlling an image pickup apparatus including an image pickup device, a display unit configured to perform a control operation to display a signal output from the image pickup device on a monitor, a first photometry section configured to measure luminance of an image of an object based on the signal output from the image pickup device, and a second photometry section configured to measure luminance of the image of the object using a photometric sensor mounted, the method comprising:
- controlling exposure based on luminance measured by the second photometry section in a case where, after a shift from a second mode to a first mode is started and before luminance is measured by the first photometry section, a request is made by a user to capture an image for recording an output of the image pickup device;
- and
- controlling exposure based on luminance measured by the first photometry section in a case where, after luminance is measured by the first photometry section, a request is made by the user to capture an image for recording an output of the image pickup device,
- wherein the first photometry section measures luminance in a case where a mirror member is evacuated to an upper position so that a light beam from an image pickup lens unit is directed to the image pickup device,
- wherein the second photometry section measures luminance in a case where the mirror member is located in a lower position,
- wherein the photometric sensor is arranged in another position with the image pickup device for the mirror,
- wherein the first mode is a mode in which the first photometry section measures luminance and the monitor displays a signal output from the image pickup device, wherein the second mode is a mode in which the second photometry section measures luminance.
A non-transitory computer readable medium containing computer-executable instructions for controlling an image pickup apparatus including an image pickup device, a display unit configured to perform a control operation to display a signal output from the image pickup device on a monitor, a first photometry section configured to measure luminance of an image of an object based on the signal output from the image pickup device, and a second photometry section configured to measure luminance of the image of the object using a photometric sensor mounted, the computer readable medium comprising:
- computer-executable instructions that control exposure based on luminance measured by the second photometry section in a case where, after a shift from a second mode to a first mode is started and before luminance is measured by the first photometry section, a request is made by a user to capture an image for recording an output of the image pickup device;
- and
- computer-executable instructions that control exposure based on luminance measured by the first photometry section in a case where, after luminance is measured by the first photometry section, a request is made by the user to capture an image for recording an output of the image pickup device,
