Abstract
The present invention relates to a new and distinctive canola, designated G069467. Also included are seeds of canola G069467, to the plants, or plant parts, of canola G069467 and to methods for producing a canola plant produced by crossing the canola G069467 with itself or another canola genotype, and the creation of variants by mutagenesis or transformation of canola G069467.
Claims20
A seed of canola designated G069467, wherein a representative sample of seed of said cultivar was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-13530.
A method of introducing a desired trait into canola CL117235H, wherein the method comprises:
- (a) crossing a G069467 plant, wherein a representative sample of seed was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-13530, with a plant of another canola cultivar that comprises said desired trait to produce F1 progeny plants, wherein said desired trait is selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, and resistance to bacterial disease, fungal disease or viral disease;
- (b) selecting one or more progeny plants that have said desired trait to produce selected progeny plants;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the G069467 plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have said desired trait and physiological and morphological characteristics of canola G069467 to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) three or more times to produce selected fourth or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise said desired trait and an oleic acid value of about 70% and an α-linolenic acid value of less than about 3%.
A method of modifying fatty acid metabolism or modifying carbohydrate metabolism of canola G069467 wherein the method comprises:
- (a) crossing a G069467 plant, wherein a representative sample of seed was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-13530, with a plant of another canola cultivar to produce F1 progeny plants that comprise a nucleic acid molecule encoding an enzyme selected from the group consisting of phytase, fructosyltransferase, levansucrase, alpha-amylase, invertase and starch branching enzyme or encoding an antisense of stearyl-ACP desaturase;
- (b) selecting one or more progeny plants that have said nucleic acid molecule to produce selected progeny plants;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the G069467 plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have said nucleic acid molecule and physiological and morphological characteristics of canola G069467 to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) three or more times to produce selected fourth or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise said nucleic acid molecule and have an oleic acid value of about 70% and an α-linolenic acid value of less than about 3%.
