Abstract
Stabilized cationic ammonium compounds are described. The compounds are stabilized with pyridine-based chelators and/or heteroketo-based chelators that impede the generation of nitrogen comprising groups from the cationic ammonium compounds.
Claims19
A composition comprising a cationic ammonium compound and a pyridine-based chelator, a heteroketo-based chelator, or both, the chelator being one which impedes the generation of a nitrogen comprising group from the cationic ammonium compound within the composition wherein the nitrogen comprising group comprises a trimonium group.
A composition comprising a cationic ammonium compounds having the formula:
- wherein q, t and v are each independently 0 or 1 with the proviso that the sum of q, t and v is equal to 1, each R is independently hydrogen, C1-12 alkyl, C1-12 hydroxy alkyl or
- where q′, t′ and v′ are each independently 0 or 1 with the proviso that the sum of q′, t′ and v′ is equal to 1, each R1 is independently a hydrogen, C1-12 alkyl, or a C1-12 hydroxy alkyl, each R2 is independently hydrogen, C1-3 alkyl, monosaccharyl, oligosaccharyl or polysaccharyl, each n is independently an integer from 1 to about 12, r is an integer from 0 to about 5, X− is an anionic counterion, the cationic ammonium compound being stabilized with a chelator, comprising pyridine-based chelator, heteroketo-based chelator or both.
A composition comprising:
- (a)
- (b) a cosmetically acceptable carrier;
- and
- (c) a preservative
- wherein q, t and v are each independently 0 or 1 with the proviso that the sum of q, t and v is equal to 1, each R is independently hydrogen, C1-12 alkyl, C1-12hydroxy alkyl or
- where q′, t′ and v′ are each independently 0 or 1 with the proviso that the sum of q′, t′ and v′ is equal to 1, each R1 is independently a hydrogen, C1-12 alkyl, or a C1-12 hydroxy alkyl, each R2 is independently hydrogen, C1-3 alkyl, monosaccharyl, oligosaccharyl or polysaccharyl, each n is independently an integer from 1 to about 12, r is an integer from 0 to about 5, X− is an anionic counterion, the cationic ammonium compound being stabilized with a chelator comprising pyridine-based chelator, heteroketo-based chelator, or both.
A method for stabilizing a cationic ammonium compound comprising the steps of:
- a) contacting the cationic ammonium compound with a pyridine-based chelator and/or a heteroketo-based chelator;
- and
- b) impeding the formation of a nitrogen comprising group
- wherein the nitrogen comprising group comprises a trimonium group.
