Magnetic workpiece handling devices

A magnetic workpiece handling device comprising:

• a housing;
• a housing bottom secured to the housing, the housing bottom having an end face facing a workpiece to be grabbed;
• a magnetic piston disposed in the housing;
• at least one fluid connection for delivering a working fluid into the housing for moving the magnetic piston between an operating position and a rest position, the working fluid being delivered at at least a first working pressure and a second working pressure,
• the first working pressure transferring the magnetic piston into the operating position in which the magnetic piston is positioned on or close to the housing bottom, and
• the second working pressure transferring the magnetic piston into the rest position in which the magnetic piston is positioned away from the housing bottom;
• and
• a detection device to detect the holding or the non-presence of the workpiece on the end face of the housing and to determine a pressure of the working fluid,
• wherein the magnetic piston has a holding magnet for holding the workpiece against the housing bottom, the holding magnet faces the housing bottom and is movable within the magnetic piston, and the holding magnet controls a valve arrangement of the detection device.
