Multimedia management system for seamless multimedia content mobility

An apparatus comprising:

• one or more wireless modems that detect a plurality of devices, and receive multimedia content in a first format from a first application of a source device of the plurality of devices over a first wireless communication channel;
• and
• a control unit that includes a Multimedia Management System (MMS) that receives a selection of the source device and a destination device of the plurality of devices, determines a plurality of formats supported by a second application of the destination device, determines resource data indicating a status of resources within the control unit, selects a second format from the plurality of formats based on the determined resource data, and configures the control unit to provide a multimedia bridge between the first format and a second format,
• wherein the configured multimedia bridge transforms the multimedia content from the first format to the second format concurrent to the one or more wireless modems receiving a portion of the multimedia content, and
• wherein the resources comprise at least one of a power resource, a memory resource, or a storage resource of the control unit;
• and
• wherein the MMS further:
• establishes, with the one or more wireless modems, a second wireless communication channel to communicate with the second application;
• determines channel data, wherein the channel data defines a set of characteristics associated with one or more of the first and second wireless communication channels;
• configures the one or more wireless modems based on the channel data;
• and
• forwards, with the configured one or more wireless modems, the received multimedia content to the second application.

An apparatus comprising:

• communication means for detecting a plurality of devices, and receiving multimedia content in a first format from a first application of a source device of the plurality of devices over a first wireless communication channel;
• means for receiving a selection of the source device and a destination device of the plurality of devices;
• means for determining resource data indicating a status of resources within a control unit of the apparatus, wherein the resources comprise at least one of a power resource, a memory resource, or a storage resource of the control unit;
• means for determining a plurality of formats supported by a second application of the destination device, wherein the second application is different from the first application;
• means for selecting a second format from the plurality of formats based on the determined resource data;
• means for configuring a multimedia bridge between the first format and the second format;
• and
• means for transforming, with the configured multimedia bridge, the multimedia content from the first format to the second format concurrent to receiving a portion of the multimedia content;
• means for establishing a second wireless communication channel to communicate with the second application;
• means for determining channel data, wherein the channel data defines a set of characteristics associated with one or more of the first and second wireless communication channels;
• and
• means for configuring the communication means based on the channel data, and
• wherein the configured communication means forwards the received multimedia content to the second application.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions that cause a processor to:

• detect a plurality of devices;
• receive a selection of a source device from the plurality of detected devices;
• receive a selection of a destination device from the plurality of detected devices;
• receive multimedia content in a first format from a first application of the source device over a first wireless communication channel via one or more wireless modems;
• determine a plurality of formats supported by a second application of the destination device, wherein the second application of the destination device is different from the first application;
• determine resource data indicating a status of resources within a control unit, wherein the control unit is part of a device that is a different device than the source device or the destination device, and wherein the resources comprise at least one of a power resource, a memory resource, or a storage resource of the control unit;
• select a second format from the plurality of formats based on the determined resource data;
• configure a multimedia bridge between the first format and the second format;
• and
• transform, with the configured multimedia bridge, the multimedia content from the first format to the second format concurrent to receiving a portion of the multimedia content;
• establish, with the one or more wireless modems, a second wireless communication channel to communicate with the second application;
• determine channel data, wherein the channel data defines a set of characteristics associated with one or more of the first and second wireless communication channels;
• configure the one or more wireless modems based on the channel data;
• and
• forward, with the configured one or more wireless modems, the received multimedia content to the second application.
