Abstract
Improvements in the creation, maintenance and management of web based information are provided. A development environment conducive to separation of tasks and data, works in combination with the means to present views of changed information for approval to users. Data from file systems and database systems can be combined to create a rich source of material for users, while changes to such material can be effectively controlled and released for production.
Claims44
A method for editing content of a production data store for use by a computer system, comprising:
- replicating said production data store from a production environment to produce a core data store in a development environment, wherein said development environment is separated from said production environment;
- creating a first shadow data store in said development environment from first change data, said first change data comprising first content from the core data store that has been modified;
- creating a second shadow data store in said development environment from second change data, said second change data comprising second content from the core data store that has been modified
- generating a first user relational database view and a second user relational database view in said development environment for presentation to users from said first shadow data store and said second data store, respectively, to produce a first temporary image as the first user relational database view and a second temporary image as the second user relational database view;
- and
- changing said core data store to include modified content of said first shadow data store and said second shadow data store, associated with said first temporary image and said second temporary image, thereby creating a modified core data store.
A method for editing content of a production data store for use by a computer system, comprising:
- replicating said production data store from a production environment to produce a core data store in a development, wherein said development is separated from said production environment;
- creating a first shadow data store in said development environment from first change data, said first change data comprising first content from the core data store that has been modified;
- creating a second shadow data store in said development environment from second change data, said second change data comprising second content from the core data store that has been modified;
- generating a user relational database view in said development environment for presentation to a user, from said first shadow data store and said second shadow data store, to produce a temporary image as the user relational database view;
- and
- changing said core data store to include modified content of said first shadow data store and said second shadow data store, associated with said temporary image, thereby creating a modified core data store.
A data processing system for editing content of a production data store for use by a computer system, comprising:
- replicating means for replicating said production data store from a production environment to produce a core data store in a development environment, wherein said development environment is separated from said production environment;
- means for creating a first shadow data store in said development environment from first change data, said first change data comprising first content from the core data store that has been modified;
- means for creating a second shadow data store in said development environment from second change data, said second change data comprising second content from the core data store that has been modified;
- generating means for generating a first user relational database view and a second user relational database view for presentation to users in said development environment from said first shadow data store and said second shadow data store, respectively, to produce a first temporary image as the first user relational database view and a second temporary image as the second user relational database view;
- and
- changing means for changing said core data store to include modified content of said first shadow data store and said second shadow data store, associated with said first temporary image and said second temporary image, thereby creating a modified core data store.
A data processing system for editing content of a production data store for use by a computer system, comprising:
- replicating means for replicating said production data store from a production environment to produce a core data store in a development environment, wherein said development environment is separated from said production environment;
- means for creating a first shadow data store in said development environment from first change data, said first change data comprising first content from the core data store that has been modified;
- means for creating a second shadow data store in said development environment from second change data, said second change data comprising second content from the core data store that has been modified
- generating means for generating a user relational database view for presentation to a user in said development environment from said first shadow data store and said second shadow data store, to produce a temporary image as the user relational database view;
- and
- changing means for changing said core data store to include modified content of said first shadow data store and said second shadow data store, associated with said temporary image, thereby creating a modified core data store.
An article for editing content of a production data store for use by a computer system, comprising:
- a computer-readable medium;
- code means in the medium for replicating said production data store from a production environment to produce a core data store in a development environment, wherein said development environment is separated from said production environment;
- code means in the medium for creating a first shadow data store in said development environment from first change data, said first change data comprising first content from the core data store that has been modified;
- code means in the medium for creating a second shadow data store in said development environment from second change data, said second change data comprising second content from the core data store that has been modified;
- code means in the medium for generating a user relational database view for presentation to a user in said development environment from said first shadow data store and said second shadow data store, to produce a temporary image as the user relational database view;
- code means in the medium for presenting said temporary image to said user as said user relational database view;
- and
- code means in the medium for changing said core data store to include modified content of said first shadow data store and said second shadow data store, associated with said temporary image, thereby creating a modified core data store.
An article for editing content of a production data store for use by a computer system, comprising:
- a computer-readable medium;
- code means in the medium for replicating said production data store from a production environment to produce a core data store in a development environment;
- code means in the medium for creating a first shadow data store in said development environment from first change data, said first change data comprising first content from the core data store that has been modified;
- code means in the medium for creating a second shadow data store in said development environment from second change data, said second change data comprising second content from the core data store that has been modified;
- code means in the medium for generating a first user relational database view and a second user relational database view for presentation to users in said development environment from said first shadow data store and said second shadow data store, to produce a first temporary image as the first user relational database view and a second temporary image as the second user relational database view;
- code means in the medium for presenting said first temporary image and said second temporary image to said users as said first user relational database view and said second user relational database view;
- and
- code means in the medium for changing said core data store to include modified content of said first shadow data store and said second shadow data store, associated with said first temporary image and said second temporary image, thereby creating a modified core data store.
