Abstract
A method and apparatus for analyzing characteristics of ECG signal data having a succession of waveforms produced by the beating of the heart. ECG signal data is obtained from a patient. A depolarization feature and a second feature of the waveforms of the ECG signal data are determined. Waveforms of the ECG signal data having a stable heart rate are selected for use in determining the second feature. Waveforms selected are those having minimum depolarization feature standard deviation and minimum depolarization feature dispersion. The depolarization feature and second feature for the heart beats of the selected waveforms are displayed.
Claims10
A method of analyzing characteristics of electrocardiographic (ECG) signal data, the method comprising the steps of:
- obtaining ECG signal data comprising a plurality of waveforms, each waveform comprising a first feature and a second feature, wherein the first feature is a depolarization feature;
- extracting, with a processor, the depolarization feature from each of the plurality of waveforms;
- calculating a standard deviation between a plurality of the extracted depolarization features;
- calculating a dispersion between a plurality of the extracted depolarization features;
- selecting, with the processor, a set of stable waveforms from the plurality of waveforms that minimizes the calculated standard deviation and minimizes the calculated dispersion;
- extracting, with the processor, the second feature from each of the waveforms of the set of stable waveforms;
- and
- computing, with the processor, a diagnostically relevant value from the extracted second features.
A non-transient computer readable medium storing computer readable code that upon execution of the code by a computer processor, causes the computer processor to:
- obtain electrocardiographic (ECG) data comprising a plurality of waveforms, each waveform comprising a first feature and a second feature, wherein the first feature is an R-R interval;
- extract the R-R interval from each of the waveforms;
- calculate a standard deviation between a plurality of the extracted R-R intervals;
- calculate a dispersion between a plurality of the extracted R-R intervals;
- compare the extracted R-R intervals to minimize the calculated standard deviation and to minimize the calculated dispersion;
- select a set of stable waveforms from the plurality of waveforms that are consecutive waveforms that minimize both the calculated standard deviation and the calculated dispersion;
- extract a Q-T interval from each of the waveforms of the set of stable waveforms;
- and
- calculate a QT correction (QTc) value from the extracted Q-T intervals.
A system for analyzing characteristics of electrocardiographic (ECG) signal data, the system comprising:
- a graphical display configured to present data;
- a processor communicatively connected to the graphical display, the processor configured to operate the graphical display to present data;
- and
- a non-transient computer readable medium programmed with computer readable code that is communicatively connected to the processor, such that the processor executes the computer readable code which causes the processor to:
- receive ECG signal data, the ECG signal data comprising a plurality of waveforms, each waveform comprising an R-R interval and a Q-T interval;
- extract the R-R interval from each of the plurality of waveforms;
- calculate a standard deviation between a plurality of the extracted R-R intervals;
- calculate a dispersion between a plurality of the extracted R-R intervals;
- compare the extracted R-R intervals to minimize the calculated standard deviation and minimize the calculated dispersion;
- select a set of consecutive stable waveforms from the plurality of waveforms that minimize both the calculated standard deviation and the calculated dispersion;
- extract the Q-T interval from each of the waveforms of the set of consecutive stable waveforms;
- calculate a QT correction (QTc) from the extracted R-R intervals and extracted QT intervals from the set of consecutive stable waveforms;
- and
- operate the graphical display to present matched pairs of the extracted R-R intervals and the extracted QT intervals from the set of stable waveforms, and the calculated QTc.
