Abstract
Some video compression standards use multiple temporal predictions. One or more of the oldest temporal predict ions are overwritten with another prediction. A prediction used in an enhancement encoder is in embodiment overwritten by a prediction produced in a base stream encoder.
Claims38
A method for encoding a video signal wherein image compression is performed and multiple temporal predictions are used wherein multiple prediction frames are stored in a memory of an enhancement stream encoder wherein a temporal prediction frame (Rn-1) stored in said memory is overwritten with a separately produced prediction frame derived from a base stream encoder.
A method for decoding a video signal wherein image compression is performed and multiple temporal predictions are used wherein multiple prediction frames are stored in a memory wherein a temporal prediction frame (Rn-1) in memory of an enhancement stream encoder is overwritten with a separately produced prediction frame, derived from a base stream encoder.
An encoder for a video signal wherein image compression is performed wherein the encoder is arranged for generating multiple temporal predictions and store the multiple temporal predictions in a memory of an enhancement stream encoder wherein the encoder is arranged to overwrite a temporal prediction frame (Rn-1) stored in said memory with a separately produced prediction frame derived from a base stream encoder.
A decoder for a compressed video signal wherein the encoder is arranged for generating multiple temporal predictions and store the multiple temporal predictions in a memory of an enhancement stream decoder, wherein the decoder is arranged to overwrite a temporal prediction frame (Rn-1) in said memory with a separately produced prediction frame derived from a base stream decoder.
A non-transitory computer readable media encoded with a compressed image signal, comprising an identification code that specifies which one of a number of predetermined prediction models is used for at least a region of the image of the image signal when the signal is introduced to the processor of an enhancement encoder, wherein the specified prediction model operates on temporal prediction frames stored in a predetermined memory associated with said at least a region of the image of the image signal and wherein at least one temporal prediction frame stored in said predetermined memory is overwritten with a separately produced prediction frame derived from a base stream encoder.
A non-transitory computer readable media encoded with a compressed image signal, comprising an identification code that specifies which one of a number of predetermined prediction models is used for at least a region of the image of the image signal when the signal is introduced to the processor of an enhancement decoder, wherein the specified prediction model operates on temporal prediction frames stored in a predetermined memory associated with said at least a region of the image of the image signal and wherein at least one temporal prediction frame stored in said predetermined memory is overwritten with a separately produced prediction frame derived from a base stream encoder.
