## Abstract

When a key for directly transferring from the screen of a “video mode” of tape reproduction to the screen of memory stick reproduction is separately arranged, the ratio of an occupation area of the key on the screen is increased. Therefore, a setting operation is performed such that a stop key (11a) is displayed when the “video mode” is set and no memory stick is mounted as shown in FIG. 1A, and when the tape is being reproduced as shown in FIG. 1C. In contrast to this, the setting operation is also performed such that a switching key (11f) for transferring to the reproducing screen of the memory stick of FIG. 1D is displayed when the “video mode” is set and no tape is being reproduced and the memory stick is mounted as shown in FIG. 1B.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A device operable to have a first recording medium and a second recording medium, said device comprising:
a display unit having a display screen; and
a control circuit operable to cause display of a first touch key icon on the display screen, and to cause, in response to the first touch key icon being touched by a user, changeover of the display screen from displaying further touch key icons used to control reproduction from the first recording medium to displaying other touch key icons used to control reproduction from the second recording medium, the first touch key icon being displayed on the display screen in response to detecting that (i) the first recording medium is not being reproduced and (ii) the second recording medium is mounted while the device remains in a same reproducing mode as is used for reproduction from the first recording medium.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The device as claimed in claim 1, in which the device is an imaging device, and the control circuit is operable to cause, in response to the first touch key icon being touched by a user, changeover of the display screen from displaying further touch key icons used to control reproduction of images from the first recording medium to the display screen to displaying other touch key icons used to control reproduction of images from the second recording medium to the display screen, the first touch key icon being displayed on the display screen in response to detecting that (i) the first recording medium is not being reproduced to the display screen and (ii) the second recording medium is mounted in a same reproducing mode as is used for reproduction of images from the first recording medium.

### Claim 3

A device operable to reproduce information stored on a first recording medium and on a second recording medium, said device comprising:
a display unit having a display screen; and
a control circuit operable to cause a first touch key icon to be displayed on the display screen, and to cause, in response to the first touch key icon being touched by a user, changeover of the display screen to displaying other touch key icons used for controlling reproduction of information recorded in the second recording medium while the device remains in a first operational mode used for controlling reproduction of such information from the first recording medium, the first touch key icon being displayed on the display screen in response to detecting that (i) the first recording medium is not involved in a reproduction operation and (ii) the second recording medium is mounted to the device.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The device as claimed in claim 3, wherein the control circuit is operable to not display the first icon on the display screen when the second recording medium is not mounted to the device.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The device as claimed in claim 3, in which the first recording medium is a different type from that of the second recording medium.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The device according to claim 3, further comprising a physical change-over switch operable to enable an operator to select whether the device is set to be in the first operational mode or in a second operational mode, in which the first operational mode causes a display of further touch key icons used to control operations associated with reproduction from the first recording medium to be displayed on the display screen of the display unit, and the second operational mode causes the display of the other touch key icons used to control operations associated with reproduction from the second recording medium to be displayed on the display screen of the display unit.

### Claim 7 (depends on 3)

The device as claimed in claim 3, in which the control circuit is operable to cause the first touch key icon to be displayed on the display screen for enabling an operator to select, by touching the first touch key icon, the display screen to display the other touch key icons so that the display screen appears as if the device is set to be in a second operational mode in which reproduction of information from the second recording medium is controlled, the first touch key icon being displayed on the display screen in response to detecting that (i) the first recording medium is not involved in a current reproduction operation, (ii) the second recording medium is mounted to the device, and (iii) the operator having set the device to be in the first operational mode using a physical changeover switch.

### Claim 8 (depends on 3)

The device as claimed in claim 3, in which the control circuit is operable to cause a second touch key icon to be displayed on the display screen, and to cause, in response to the second touch key icon being touched by a user, changeover of the display screen from displaying the other touch key icons used for controlling reproduction of information recorded in the second recording medium to displaying further touch key icons used for controlling reproduction of information recorded in the first recording medium, the other touch key icons having been displayed though the device is set to be in the first operational mode used for controlling reproduction of such information from the first recording medium, the second icon being displayed on the display screen in response to detecting that (i) the second recording medium is not involved in a reproduction operation to the display unit and (ii) the first recording medium is mounted to the device.

### Claim 9 (depends on 3)

The device as claimed in claim 3, in which the device is an imaging device, and the control circuit is operable to cause, in response to the first touch key icon being touched by a user, changeover of the display screen to displaying other touch key icons used for controlling reproduction of image information recorded in the second recording medium from the operational mode used for controlling reproduction of such image information from the first recording medium, the first icon being displayed on the display screen in response to detecting that (i) the first recording medium is not involved in a reproduction operation of image information to the display unit and (ii) the second recording medium is mounted to the imaging device.

### Claim 10 (depends on 3)

The device as claimed in claim 3, in which the control circuit is operable to cause the first touch key icon to be displayed on the display screen concurrent with the further touch key icons used for controlling reproduction of information recorded in the first recording medium and to cause the second touch key icon to be displayed on the display screen concurrent with the further touch key icons used for controlling reproduction of information recorded in the second recording medium.

### Claim 11
