## Abstract

The present invention provides Parotid Secretory Protein peptides, nucleic acids encoding the peptides, and methods of using the peptides, and methods of screening GL13 mimetics.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An isolated and purified Parotid Secretory Protein (PSP) peptide of 13 to 50 amino acids in length comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 11, SEQ ID NO: 12, or SEQ ID NO: 13.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The isolated and purified Parotid Secretory Protein (PSP) peptide of claim 1, wherein the peptide is amidated at its C-terminal end.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The PSP peptide of claim 1, wherein the peptide is between 13 and 20 amino acids in length.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The PSP peptide of claim 1, wherein the peptide is between 13 and 15 amino acids in length.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The PSP peptide of claim 1, wherein the peptide is 13 amino acids in length.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The PSP peptide of claim 1, wherein the peptide is linear.
