## Abstract

An ink set for ink jet recording containing an ink composition containing a pigment, polymer particles, a water-soluble organic solvent, a lubricant, and water and a reaction liquid that forms an aggregate by contacting with the ink composition and an ink jet recording method using the same are provided.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An ink set for ink jet recording, comprising:
an ink composition containing a pigment, polymer particles, a water-soluble organic solvent, a lubricant, and water; and
a reaction liquid that forms an aggregate by contacting with the ink composition,
wherein the polymer particles are self-dispersing polymer particles,
wherein the self-dispersing polymer particles contain a constituent unit derived from an aromatic group-containing (meth)acrylate monomer, and the content thereof in the self-dispersing polymer particles is 10% by mass to 95% by mass.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The ink set for ink jet recording according to claim 1, wherein the lubricant is at least one selected from a wax, a silicone compound, an ester compound, a fatty acid amide compound, a fluorine compound, a higher aliphatic acid, salts thereof, or an organic or inorganic matting agent.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The ink set for ink jet recording according to claim 1, wherein the lubricant is at least one selected from a wax of a straight chain higher fatty acid ester, a hydrocarbon wax, a silicone oil having a structure of —(—Si(CH3)2)n- in which n is an integer of 1 or more, 1-pentadecyl-2-hexadecyl-phthalic acid diester, or palmitic acid amide.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The ink set for ink jet recording according to claim 1, wherein the lubricant is a wax.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The ink set for ink jet recording according to claim 4, wherein the lubricant is a wax emulsion.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The ink set for ink jet recording according to claim 5, wherein an average particle size of the lubricant is 0.1 μm to 2 μm.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The ink set for ink jet recording according to claim 1, wherein the lubricant is contained in the ink composition in a proportion of 0.1% by mass to 5% by mass in terms of solid matter concentration.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The ink set for ink jet recording according to claim 1, wherein the pigment is dispersed by a water-insoluble polymer.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The ink set for ink jet recording according to claim 1, wherein the self-dispersing polymer particles contain a carboxy group.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The ink set for ink jet recording according to claim 1, wherein the self-dispersing polymer particles contain a water insoluble polymer having an acid value of 25 mgKOH/g to 100 mgKOH/g and a weight average molecular weight of 3,000 to 200,000.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The ink set for ink jet recording according to claim 1, wherein a glass transition temperature of a polymer of the polymer particles is from 20° C. to 200° C.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

An ink jet recording method comprising forming an image on a recording medium using the ink set for ink jet recording according to claim 1.

The ink jet recording method according to claim 12, comprising, after the image formation process:
drying the image; and
bringing a surface of the image into contact with a heating member after drying to fix the image.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The ink jet recording method according to claim 12, wherein the image formation process comprises:
applying the reaction liquid on the recording medium; and
applying the ink composition on the reaction liquid applied on the recording medium for contact therebetween to form an aggregate.
