## Abstract

Provided is a method for inhibiting the activation of macrophages in a subject, comprising administrating to the subject an effective amount of an active component selected from the group consisting of a compound of formula (I), a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the compound, and a pharmaceutically acceptable ester of the compound, and combinations thereof:

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for inhibiting the activation of macrophages in a subject, comprising administering to the subject in need thereof, an effective amount of an active component selected from the group consisting of a compound of formula (I), a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the compound, and combinations thereof:
and wherein the dosage of said administering is selected to effectively treat arthritis or hepatitis.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the subject has rheumatoid arthritis.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method as claimed in claim 1, further comprising: wherein the active component is administered as a pharmaceutical composition.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the active component is administered by oral administration, subcutaneous injection, intravenous injection, or intra-articular injection.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the active component is the compound of formula (I).

### Claim 6

A method for treating inflammation in a subject, comprising administering to the subject in need thereof, an effective amount of an active component selected from the group consisting of a compound of formula (I), a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the compound, and combinations thereof:

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The method as claimed in claim 6, further comprising: wherein the active component is administered as a pharmaceutical composition.

### Claim 8 (depends on 6)

The method as claimed in claim 6, wherein the active component is administered by oral administration, subcutaneous injection, intravenous injection, or intra-articular injection.

### Claim 9 (depends on 6)

The method as claimed in claim 6, wherein the active component is the compound of formula (I).
