Abstract
The invention herein related to methods and compositions for treating nervous system disorders. The methods comprise administration of antibodies directed towards peptides that bind to receptors important in disease progression, thus attenuating the disease.

A method for the treatment of a degenerative disorder of the nervous system comprising administering to a subject in need an effective amount of a composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient and an antibody that binds a peptide consisting of an amino acid sequence at least 89% identical to SEQ ID NO:
- 1, wherein said antibody inhibits fibrin γ377-395 (SEQ ID NO:1) specific binding to Mac-1, wherein the degenerative disorder of the nervous system involves leakage of fibrinogen perivascularly in the brain.
