## Abstract

The present invention relates to methods for preventing or treating neurological diseases, particularly brain diseases, and improving cognitive functions using a composition comprising stanniocalcin 2 as an active ingredient.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for improving a cognitive function of a subject, the method comprising administering to a subject a therapeutically acceptable amount of a composition comprising as an active ingredient stanniocalcin 2 having an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:1.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the subject suffers from a neurodegenerative disease.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the composition is administered orally or parenterally.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The method according to claim 2, wherein the composition is administered orally or parenterally.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the cognitive function is learning ability, memory or concentration.

### Claim 6

A method for improving a cognitive function of a subject, the method comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically acceptable amount of a composition comprising as an active ingredient stanniocalcin 2 having an amino acid sequence encoded by a nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:2.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, wherein the subject suffers from a neurodegenerative disease.

### Claim 8 (depends on 6)

The method according to claim 6, wherein the composition is administered orally or parenterally.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The method according to claim 7, wherein the composition is administered orally or parenterally.

### Claim 10 (depends on 6)

The method according to claim 6, wherein the cognitive function is learning ability, memory or concentration.
