## Abstract

Disclosed are method for treating diabetes, a protein for treatment of diabetes, and pharmaceutical composition comprising the same. The protein is human mature chemerin, which can be used to treat diabetes, in particular type 2 diabetes, inter alia to treat diabetes in a patient who is concurrently administered with insulin.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for treatment of diabetes in a patient in need thereof comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of human mature chemerin.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the diabetes is type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the diabetes is type 2 diabetes.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, further comprising concurrently administering insulin.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, comprising administering the human mature chemerin in the form of an injection.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The method according to claim 5, wherein the injection is an aqueous preparation comprising the human mature chemerin.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The method according to claim 5, wherein the injection comprises a lyophilizate comprising the human mature chemerin.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the human mature chemerin comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 5.
