A composition comprising a purified cell wall fraction of a Bacillus coagulans bacterium, or a fragment thereof, in a form suitable for human ingestion, wherein said cell wall fraction comprises a bioactive compound between 3 and 30 kDa, said cell wall fraction being present in an immune-enhancing amount.
