Abstract
A radish line designated E66V70336 is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds of radish cultivar E66V70336, to the plants and plant parts of radish cultivar E66V70336 and to methods for producing a radish plant, either inbred or hybrid, by crossing the radish cultivar E66V70336 with itself or another radish line. The invention further relates to methods for producing a radish plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic plants produced by that method and to methods for producing other radish lines derived from the radish cultivar E66V70336.
Claims31
A seed of radish inbred line designated E66V70336, wherein a representative sample of seed of said line has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12521.
A radish plant or a part thereof, having all the physiological and morphological characteristics of the radish cultivar E66V70336, wherein a representative sample of seed of said line was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12521.
A method for producing radish cultivar E66V70336, wherein a representative sample of seed of said line was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12521, wherein the method comprises:
- a) planting a collection of seed comprising seed of a hybrid, one of whose parents is radish cultivar E66V770336, said collection also comprising seed of said inbred;
- b) growing plants from said collection of seed;
- c) identifying the plants having the physiological and morphological characteristics of radish cultivar E66V70336 as inbred parent plants;
- d) controlling pollination of said inbred parent plants in a manner which preserves the homozygosity of said inbred parent plant;
- and
- e) harvesting the resultant seed.
A method of introducing a desired trait into radish cultivar E66V70336, wherein the method comprises:
- a) crossing radish cultivar E66V70336 plants grown from the radish cultivar E66V70336 seed, wherein a representative sample of seed of said line was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12521, with plants of another radish line that comprise a desired trait to produce progeny plants, wherein the desired trait is selected from the group consisting of male sterility, male fertility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, disease resistance, and water stress tolerance;
- b) selecting progeny plants that have the desired trait;
- c) backcrossing the selected progeny plants with the radish cultivar E66V70336;
- d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait(s);
- and
- e) repeating steps (c) and (d) one or more times in succession to produce selected second or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait(s).
