Abstract
Optical information media containing an ultraviolet protection layer are described. The protection layer will reduce or eliminate damage to the media's data layer and substrate.
Claims27
An optical information medium, comprising:
- at least one support substrate having a first face defining a first side of the support substrate and a second face defining a second side of the support substrate;
- at least one ultraviolet protection layer on the first side of the support substrate, the ultraviolet protection layer having a thickness equal to or less than about 70 nanometers;
- an intervening layer of SiO2 between the ultraviolet protection layer and the first face;
- and
- a data layer on the second side of the support substrate.
