Abstract
The present invention allows for effective sharing of the hardware memory of a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU). The memory will be shared among various buffers of different entities. More particularly, memory will be shared among the MAC reordering buffers and the RLC reception buffers.
Claims6
A method for sharing memory, the method comprising:
- receiving medium access control (MAC) protocol data units (PDUs);
- storing the MAC PDUs in a memory;
- performing MAC processing on the MAC PDUs to retrieve RLC PDUs;
- and
- performing RLC processing on the RLC PDUs, wherein the MAC processing and the RLC processing are performed using different pointers to the memory without moving the MAC PDUs from one location to another in the memory.
2 more elements
A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
- a memory for storing received medium access control (MAC) protocol data units (PDUs);
- and
- a processor configured to perform MAC processing on the MAC PDUs to retrieve RLC PDUs and RLC processing on the RLC PDUs using different pointers to the memory without moving the MAC PDUs from one location to another in the memory.
