Abstract
Seismic processing method, in which, in order to eliminate multiple reflections on seismic data, seismic data are migrated in time or in depth (110) arid the data thus migrated are processed to determine an approximation of multiple reflections to be subtracted from, seismic data (120 to 160).
Claims22
A seismic processing method for eliminating multiple reflections in seismic data recorded by seismic sensors, wherein some reflections are produced when seismic waves are reflected from an air-water interface at a surface of a body of water, the method comprising:
- migrating the seismic data in time or in depth thereby generating a migrated section;
- extrapolating a seismic wave from a source to a reflector in the migrated section to determine an approximation of the multiple reflections by building a model of multiple reflections for any type of offset;
- and
- substracting said approximation of multiple reflections from the seismic data.
The method according to clam 2, wherein the extrapolating step includes:
- extrapolating the seismic wave from the seismic data which is used as an areal source record.
A seismic processing method for eliminating multiple reflections in seismic data recorded by seismic sensors, wherein some reflections are produced when seismic waves are reflected from an air-water interface at a surface of a body of water, the method comprising:
- building a velocity field for modeling a wave propagation;
- migrating in time or in depth, based on the velocity field, traces of the seismic data thereby generating a migrated section;
- extrapolating a seismic wave from a source to a reflector in the migrated section to determine an approximation of multiple reflections by building a model of multiple reflections;
- and
- subtracting said approximation of multiple reflections from the seismic data.
The method according to clam 12, wherein the extrapolating step includes:
- extrapolating the seismic wave from the seismic data which is used as an areal source record.
