Abstract
A thermochromic smart window and a method of manufacturing the thermochromic smart window including a glass and a thermochromic layer including a vanadium dioxide material formed on the glass. A thermochromic smart window includes a substrate and a thermochromic layer disposed on the substrate, wherein a slope of a graph of a reflectance of the thermochromic layer is at or between 1 and 2%/° C. at a threshold temperature.
Claims17
A thermochromic smart window comprising:
- a substrate;
- and
- a thermochromic layer on the substrate,
- wherein:
- a slope in a graph of a reflectance of the thermochromic layer is at or between 1 and 2%/° C. at a threshold temperature, and
- in the graph of the reflectance of the thermochromic layer, the reflectance is higher at a temperature above the threshold temperature than that at a temperature below the threshold temperature.
A method of manufacturing a thermochromic smart window, the method comprising:
- providing a substrate;
- and
- forming a thermochromic layer on the substrate by Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD),
- wherein:
- a slope in a graph of a reflectance of the formed thermochromic layer is at or between 1 and 2%/° C. at a threshold temperature, and
- in the graph of the reflectance of the formed thermochromic layer, the reflectance is higher at a temperature above the threshold temperature than that at a temperature below the threshold temperature.
A system of manufacturing a thermochromic smart window, the system comprising:
- means for providing a substrate;
- and
- means for forming a thermochromic layer on the substrate,
- wherein:
- a slope in a graph of a reflectance of the thermochromic layer is at or between 1 and 2%/° C. at a threshold temperature, and
- in the graph of the reflectance of the thermochromic layer, the reflectance is higher at a temperature above the threshold temperature than that at a temperature below the threshold temperature.
