Abstract
The present invention refers to an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution having a hydrogen peroxide concentration [H2O2] expressed as % by weight of the solution and an apparent pH of from pHmin to pHmax, such that pHmin=3.45−0.0377×[H2O2], and pHmax=3.76−0.0379×[H2O2]. The present invention also relates to a process for the preparation of said hydrogen peroxide solution and the use of said solution in a process for the epoxidation of olefins.
Claims28
A process for the manufacture of propylene oxide or epichlorohydrine, the process comprising reacting propylene or allyl chloride and hydrogen peroxide, wherein the hydrogen peroxide comprises an aqueous solution having a hydrogen peroxide concentration [H2O2] expressed as % by weight of the solution and an apparent pH less than 2.60, and wherein the apparent pH is also greater than or equal to pHmin and less than or equal to pHmax, wherein pHmin and pHmax are defined by the following equations:
- pHmin=3.45−0.0377×[H2O2], and pHmin<2.60;
- and
- pHmax=3.76−0.0379×[H2O2], and pHmax<2.60.
A process for the epoxidation of olefins, the process comprising reacting hydrogen peroxide with an olefin in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst, wherein the hydrogen peroxide comprises an aqueous solution having a hydrogen peroxide concentration [H2O2] expressed as % by weight of the solution and an apparent pH less than 2.60, and wherein the apparent pH is also greater than or equal to pHmin and less than or equal to pHmax, wherein pHmin and pHmax are defined by the following equations:
- pHmin=3.45−0.0377×[H2O2], and pHmin<2.60;
- and
- pHmax=3.76−0.0379×[H2O2], and pHmax<2.60.
