Abstract
A cleaning composition including a primarily C12 quaternary functionalized alkyl polyglucoside, a water conditioning agent, an acid source, a solvent, and water. In one embodiment, the cleaning composition is substantially free of alkyl phenol ethoxylates. The cleaning composition is capable of removing soils including up to 20% proteins. The cleaning compositions include a biorenewable, environmentally friendly alternative to nonyl phenol ethoxylates and exhibit superior cleaning of food soils.
Claims14
A cleaning composition comprising:
- (a) from about 40% to about 80% by weight of a primarily C12 quaternary functionalized alkyl polyglucoside component derived from a renewable carbon source, and having the following formula:
- wherein R1 is an alkyl group having from about 8 to about 22 carbon atoms, and R2 is CH3(CH2)n′ where n′ is an integer ranging from 0-21;
- (b) from about 3% to about 18% by weight of a water conditioning agent;
- (c) water;
- and
- (d) from about 0.1% to about 0.55% by weight of phosphoric acid;
- wherein said composition comprises less than about 0.5% by weight alkyl phenol ethoxylates.

A hard surface cleaner comprising:
- a primarily C12 quaternary functionalized alkyl polyglucoside component having a degree of polymerization of from about 1 to 2 derived from a renewable carbon source, and having the following formula:
- wherein R1 is an alkyl group having from about 8 to about 22 carbon atoms, and R2 is CH3(CH2)n′ where n′ is an integer ranging from 0-21;
- ethylencdiaminetetraacetic acid tetrasodium salt;
- phosphoric acid;
- and
- water;
- wherein the hard surface cleaner is substantially free of alkyl phenol ethoxylates and has a pH of between about 6.5 and about 10.
