Abstract
Novel organic compounds comprising ligands with deuterium substitution are provided. In particular, the compound is an iridium complex comprising methyl-d3 substituted ligands. The compounds may be used in organic light emitting devices to provide devices having improved color, efficiency and lifetime.

A compound having a structure selected from the group consisting of:
- wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, and R11 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, alkenyl, alkynyl, arylalkyl, aryl, and heteroaryl;
- and R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, and R11 may be linked;
- wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10 and R11 may be fused;
- and
- wherein at least one of R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, and R11 includes an alkyl group that includes CD, CD2, or CD3;
- and
- wherein M is iridium.

An organic light emitting device comprising:
- an anode;
- a cathode;
- and
- an organic layer, disposed between the anode and the cathode, wherein the organic layer comprises a compound having a structure selected from the group consisting of:
- wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10 and R11 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, alkenyl, alkynyl, arylalkyl, aryl, and heteroaryl;
- and R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, and R11 may be linked;
- wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, and R11 may be fused;
- and
- wherein at least one of R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10 and R11 includes an alkyl group that includes CD, CD2, or CD3;
- and
- wherein M is iridium.
