Abstract
A drying agent enclosed in an organic EL element is sealed with a shape with which particulate contamination becomes less than that of a conventional shape, while still capable of showing a moisture absorption capacity similar to that of a fine powder. A light emitting device, and an electronic device, having long life and having less particulate contamination than in a device manufactured by conventional processes, are provided by using the organic EL element. The drying agent, made from a compound capable of chemically absorbing moisture, is formed as a bulk porous body or a porous film, and is formed along with the organic EL elements within a container cut off from the atmosphere. In addition, the light emitting device and the electronic device are manufactured using the organic EL elements.
Claims28
A method of manufacturing a light emitting device comprising:
- forming a first electrode over a first substrate;
- forming an electroluminescence layer over the first electrode;
- forming a second electrode over the electroluminescence layer;
- maintaining a drying agent including a plurality of bulk porous bodies between a permeable seal and a second substrate;
- and
- bonding the second substrate and the first substrate with a sealing member interposed therebetween,
- wherein the plurality of bulk porous bodies is a discontinuous layer, and
- wherein the plurality of bulk porous bodies is directly on the permeable seal and is isolated from the second substrate.
A method of manufacturing a light emitting device comprising:
- providing a transistor over a first substrate;
- providing a first electrode electrically connected to the transistor;
- providing an electroluminescence layer over the first electrode;
- providing a second electrode over the electroluminescence layer;
- maintaining a drying agent including a plurality of bulk porous bodies between a permeable seal and a second substrate;
- and
- bonding the second substrate and the first substrate with a sealing member interposed therebetween,
- wherein the plurality of bulk porous bodies is a discontinuous layer, and
- wherein the plurality of bulk porous bodies is directly on the permeable seal and is isolated from the second substrate.
