Abstract
An inject recording method, including: spraying droplets of an ink composition that contains organic solvent, resin, and a pigment dispersion containing a metal pigment, wherein the metal pigment contains plate-like particles, and in the case where the longitudinal diameter on the planar surface of the plate-like particle is X, the lateral diameter is Y, and the thickness is Z, the 50% average particle diameter R50 of a corresponding circle determined from the surface area in the X-Y plane of the plate-like particle is between 0.5 and 3 μm, and the condition R50/Z>5 is satisfied; and causing the droplets to adhere to a recording medium.
Claims19
An inkjet recording method, comprising:
- spraying droplets of an ink composition onto a recording medium to form an image with a metallic gloss thereon, said ink composition comprising a metal pigment, organic solvent, and resin, wherein (A) the amount of the ink composition that is sprayed onto the recording medium is between 1.0 and 50 mg/cm2, (B) the image formed on the recording medium has a specular gloss measured at 20° , 60° , and 85° of no less than 200, 200, and 100 respectively, as measured on the recording medium in accordance with JIS Z 8741, (C) the metal pigment contains plate-like particles, and wherein if a longitudinal diameter on the planar surface of the plate-like particle is X, a lateral diameter is Y, and a thickness is Z, a 50% average particle diameter R50 of a corresponding circle determined from the surface area in the X-Y plane of the plate-like particle is between 0.5 and 3 μm and the condition R50/Z >5 is satisfied, and (D) the concentration of the metal pigment in the ink composition is between 0.1 and 3.0 wt%.
An inkjet recording method, comprising the steps of:
- (a) providing an ink composition by combining an organic solvent, a resin, and a pigment dispersion containing a metal pigment;
- the metal pigment containing plate-like particles, and wherein if a longitudinal diameter on a planar surface of the plate-like particles is X, a lateral diameter is Y, and a thickness is Z, a 50% average particle diameter R50 of a corresponding circle determined from the surface area in the X-Y plane of the plate-like particle being between 0.5 and 3 μm and the condition R50/Z>5 being satisfied, and (b) spraying droplets of the ink composition onto a recording medium to form an image with a metallic gloss thereon, wherein the metal pigment is present in the ink composition in a concentration between 0.1 and 3.0 wt%, and the ink composition is sprayed onto the recording medium in an amount between 1.0 and 50 mg/cm2 with the image being formed on the recording medium with a dry weight of the metal pigment between 0.0001 and 3.0 mg/cm2 and such that the image has a specular gloss measured at 20° , 60° , and 85 of no less than 200, 200, and 100 respectively, as measured on the recording medium in accordance with JIS Z 8741.
