Gate bracket systems and methods

A gate assembly comprising:

• a first support member, a second support member, and a third support member;
• a structural member;
• and
• a bracket system comprising:
• first and second brace assemblies, where each of the first and second brace assemblies comprises:
• a first brace member comprising:
• a horizontal member comprising a first portion defining a first outer surface portion of a first outer surface and a first inner surface portion of a first inner surface,
• a vertical member comprising a second portion defining a second outer surface and a second inner surface,
• the horizontal member further comprising a first spacing portion defining a second outer surface portion of the first outer surface and a second inner surface portion of the first inner surface, where the second portion is rigidly connected between the first portion and the spacing portion such that the first spacing portion extends beyond the second outer surface, and
• a first brace portion rigidly extending between the first inner surface portion of the first inner surface and the second inner surface to maintain a fixed angular relationship between the first and second outer surfaces, and
• a hinge assembly defining a hinge axis comprising first and second hinge plates, wherein:
• the first hinge plate is rigidly connected to the spacing portion of the brace member, and
• the second hinge plate is adapted to be connected to the structural member;
• whereby:
• the bracket system attaches the first, second, and third support members to the structural member such that the first and second support members are substantially horizontal, and the third support member is substantially vertical;
• when the first and second brace assemblies are not connected to the support members, the first and second brace assemblies are movable relative to each other;
• when the hinge assemblies of the first and second brace assemblies are connected to the structural member, the hinge axes are aligned;
• when the first and second brace assemblies are connected to the first, second, and third support members, a spatial relationship of the first brace assembly and the second brace assembly is fixed;
• the first outer surface of the first portion of each of the first brace members engages a proximal end of a respective one of opposing longitudinally extending surfaces of the first and second support members;
• the second outer surface of the second portion of each of the first brace members engages a respective upper or lower end of a longitudinally extending surface of the third support member;
• and
• the spacing portion is sized and dimensioned such that the third support member is arranged between and engages the second outer surfaces and the first hinge plates of the first brace members.
